A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE DOCUMENTARY... 2015 marked the Anniversary of 125 Years of "Greeting" in Laguna Beach. Since 1890, visitors have been welcomed to our beautiful city by one interesting character or another.
What the Greeters all had in common was a deep love for humanity and a genuine desire to connect, making each person's day brighter with a smile and a wave. The film highlights that they accomplished more than that; by accepting themselves and sharing their gifts, the Greeters encourage all of us to accept others and embrace and celebrate our differences.
When we first encountered Michael, the current greeter, he inspired and intrigued us. We were deeply moved by his ability to spread joy and happiness to all who passed by. This film explores humanity and highlights that there is always more to life than what meets the eye...
Why do these people choose to dedicate their time to greeting others?
What is their motivation?
Why are these individuals drawn to Laguna Beach to fill this role without being asked to do so?
What do they get out of it?
What do we get out of it?
The film ended up evolving into something much greater and more meaningful than we could have imagined.
It became less about the facts and dates surrounding the various Greeters and more about their dedication to spreading peace, love, joy and, acceptance.
It highlights the short & long term effects the Greeters had on each passersby, be it a member of the community or tourist.
It illuminates the fact that we are here to ENJOY this beautiful world we live in and that it is imperative we connect with one another and share in the joy and wonder it is to be human!
